This album gathers BGM and songs of both seasons. The music atmosphere is, like the TV serie, charming, fairy-tale and romance. The particularity is all BGM have been composed by OSHIMA Michiru (Arc the Lad, Fancy Lala, Fullmetal Alchemist, Queen Emeraldas (OAV), Nabari no Ou, Massugu ni Iko, Le Chevalier D'Eon).
So, on the menu: beautiful classical and symphonic music for our greatest pleasure, even though most of them are less than two minutes. The main instruments used are: piano, oboe (hautbois), harp and strings.
Personally, what I will retain from this album are the following tracks:
On the disc-1: "Shirayuki sono seihitsu taru sugata" (n°1), the symphonic main theme, really magnificent and fairy-tale, played with oboe, harp and strings ; "Fureai" (n°3), which strongly sounds like the track n°5 of FullMetal Alchemist OST1, "Tenkou kisei (Refreshing Weather)" ; "Deai joshou" (n°5), short (1'03"!) but beautiful composition with piano, the beginning reminds me a music of Jin-Roh, "Angel" (n°18), wonderful. The four other cover versions of the track n°5 also are pretty: "Deai unmei no ichinichi" (n°8), here accompanied with oboe & string, "Deai ichinichime no owari" (n°18), with harp, oboe & strings, "Deai tagai wo motome au kimochi" (n°32) and "Deai futari no kiss" (n°35), in symphonic version.
The track
n°34, "Haku yuki mae wo muko u!" is the cover version of the main theme, really lovely.
On the disc-2: "Raji no violin tomo ai" (n°9), melancholic and gorgeous composition played with piano and, as its name indicates, violin ; "Yoki omoi de yoki nakama", an another track with oboe and strings ; and "Shirayuki no seichou zen no gawa ni tatsu koto no tassei" (n°11), the long version of the main theme to close the album in beauty.
In conclusion, a pretty album recommended to fans of composer OSHIMA Michiru. As usual, music are beautiful and catchy, as though they are straight out of a fairy tale. To discover.
